I went to Somerset for the wedding of Emma and Adam.

Adam and Emma

Emma having her hair and make-up done before the wedding.

Both the bride and groom were getting ready in the same hotel so I was able capture the groom preparing for the day with his groomsmen.

The couple got married at the Orangery at Babington House. The room was decorated with flowers, and both the decorative flowers and bouquets were done by Flowers By Passion.

Emma and Adam wrote the wedding service themselves, and it was a really lovely, emotional event.

The grounds of Babington House are beautiful, and it was a lovely sunny day, which made an excellent backdrop for the images of Emma and Adam.

Laughing outside Babington House. The bride looked stunning in her beautiful dress by the designer Monique Lhuillier.

The food lined up in the dining hall before being taken to the guests.

Babington House has a pool table and throughout the afternoon and evening Emma and Adam’s guests enjoyed themselves playing pool.

Ben, Emma’s proud dad, gave a really warm father of the bride speech.

Adam and his friends are scriptwriters and there were excellent speeches.

Adam and Emma give a spectacular finish to the first dance.

I usually don’t blog much of my corporate work on here, but I have been taking quite a lot of photos in the House of Commons and the House of Lords and I thought it would be good to put a few up here. I have been doing a range of work in the Houses of Parliament in February and March and most of it has been cross-party, which means that MPs and Lords from all the 3 main parties turn up.

L-R Nick Gibb MP, Conservative Shadow Minister Children, Schools and Families; Lord Baker; Ed Balls MP, The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families; and David Laws MP the Liberal Democrat Children, Schools and Families spokesman. They were at the House of Commons attending the first ever election broadcast generated completely by the public, which was organised by Edge.

Edge had created a poster campaign featuring the Education ministers from each party. Unfortunately Michael Gove couldn’t make it, so he was replaced with Nick Gibb MP, who did a great job, but sadly did not have an illustration to stand beside. Ed Balls and David Laws were very happy to be pictured with their likeness.

PolicyConnect commissioned me to take photos at the ‘Skills Commission’s Inquiry into Teacher Training in Vocational Education’ Report Launch at the House of Commons. John Hayes MP, Conservative Shadow Minster for Lifelong Leaning, Further and Higher Education, was one of many politicians who gave a speech.

Dan Rogerson MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government speaking at the ‘Management Infrastructure: Incentivising Community Buy’ an inquiry report launch from the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group, at the House of Commons Terrace.

Baroness Whitaker deep in conversation at the House of Lords. The Associate Parliamentary Design & Innovation Group held the ‘Design and the Public Good: Creativity vs. the Procurement Process?’ inquiry report launch.

Keith Vaz, Labour MP at the International Women’s Day Lobby at the House of Commons.

I was asked to take the photograph of Mimi Poskitt and Ben Freedman in the debating chamber at County Hall.

The pair have devised and directed a new piece of theatre called Counted? – described as a ‘documentary play about British Democracy’. The play looks at how the general election has never been more visible, but many people won’t vote, and explores why this is. I was asked to photograph Ben and Mimi for press use, and the above photograph was used in the Independent.

Originally opened in 1922, County Hall was home to the Greater London Council until the GLC was abolished in 1986. In the ’90s it was sold to private investors and it opened as a theatre last year.
Counted? starts tomorrow and runs until the 22nd May, check out the Roundhouse website for tickets.
Update: Counted has had some great reviews, if you fancy some great political theatre to accompany the election then pop along.

Last week I photographed the tenor Alex Vearey-Roberts. Alex needed a headshot for publicity purposes, but he was also looking for a some more relaxed portraits for his website and for promotional usage.

Alex is a student at the International Opera School at the Royal College of Music where he is studying with Timothy Evans-Jones. He has had a lot of success in competitions, and recent achievements have included winning the audience prize at the London Welsh Young Singer competition and appearing as a finalist in the Les Azuriales Young Singers Competition amongst others.

Alex has performed at the Brangwyn Hall as part of the Swansea Music Festival and at the Pump Rooms in Bath as part of the Bath Recital Artists’ Trust concert series. Oratorio highlights include Mozart’s Mass in C Minor (Mayfield Festival), and Mendelsohn’s Psalm 115 with Vox Musica and the South Bank Sinfonia at the Anghiari music festival, Italy.

In recent RCM productions Alex received critical acclaim in the role of Contino Belfiore in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. Alex’s next major performance will be as Vasek in the RCM International Opera School’s summer production of the Bartered Bride which is playing between June 30th – July 4th at the Britten Theatre.
